We tried cereal!
Well, really it was slightly thickened milk from a spoon. She was drinking more milk this week so it seemed like she might be ready for cereal. But we quit because she was quite tooty. We’ll wait a few more weeks until she seems like she needs more food, and her little pancreas is able to digest starch better.
She was cute practicing, anyway. She learned to open her mouth for it after just a couple tries.

The most beautiful sound I ever heard…
is Amelia’s laugh. Sometimes before today I’ve wondered if a sound she made was a laugh. Today, for sure, I heard TWO laughs! I was making faces at her that she must’ve found amusing. Her little giggles were among the most wonderful things I have ever heard.

I don’t have it recorded so you get a bonus smiley picture.
1 commentBig day!

On Saturday I had Amelia in the baby bjorn and was drinking a glass of water. And she was fascinated by it.
Allison: That’s a sign that they’re ready for food, when they show interest.
Ethan: Really?
Allison: Yeah. Try it.
So I held the water glass to Amelia’s lips. She took three big sips! (Well, big for her). This is the first time since she was born that she’s had something other than milk. We had to give her some formula the first weekend for weight gain. Since then it’s been all milk.
We think we’ll try some food in the next month or so. We’ll let you know how it goes!
1 commentTough weekend

AVJ had her four-month checkup on Saturday. Yep, four months old on Sunday! She checked out fine… this lingering cough is nothing to worry about.
Here are the vitals:
weight: 15 lbs, 9 ounces (88th percentile)
height: 25 inches (52nd percentile)
I imagine someday I’ll have to stop posting her weight (”Amelia is 27 today. Weight: 130 pounds…“).
She also had her shots and they’re no fun. She cried almost the whole weekend, from them and this cough. She tooks long naps in the baby bjorn to work off the vaccine hangover. She’s better now, though.
