Cause and Effect

Here are some of Amelia’s recent favorite toys:

Stacking spheres, a vcr remote control we don’t use anymore, and a Redskins football that plays music and says cheers.

All that playing led to a very relaxing nap for dad and baby on Father’s Day.

I think that nap made dad’s day perfect. Notice dad’s catchin’ flies.

Sweet Joanie

Cadbury is a pretty swell buddy for Amelia, but Joanie gets the award for most patient. Amelia was leaning on Joanie’s snout with all her weight and Joanie didn’t flinch. Amelia explored and pulled Joanie’s fur on her head and ears and Joanie just took it. Very sweet.

It starts like this…

And ends like this…

Ethan’s grandparents got to see Amelia’s first real crawl on Saturday June 18th!! She is so cute and clumsy and uncoordinated, and all of the sudden smaller, if that makes any sense.

(She started between the toys in the upper pic)

Dad’s Day

Here’s a teaser for our next update, which we’ll get done in the next few days.

We sauntered to the park for some swinging with Amelia. (Ethan’s dad Pete told us it was World Sauntering Day, as well as Father’s Day!) I’ve never written that word before so I hope it is spelled correctly.

Stayin’ Cool

Amelia and I enjoyed the pool this afternoon:

The spray from the elephant tail was nice and warm while the hose-that-was-sitting-in-the-sun emptied. Then it was COLD!

Uh-oh

I left AVJ in the middle of the floor for about four minutes. She was in the lower left corner of this picture.

When I came back she had removed The Incredibles from the shelf and was trying to open the Xbox.

Look out.

Stuck!

Amelia enjoys being on her stomach lately. She tries to move around, does some push ups (or butt ups, below) and then takes a break.

So close…yet so far away.

Last night she ended up half way under the couch!

Summer is here!

First, the food update. It’s not as much fun because fingerfoods don’t seem to be as messy as colorful purees:

We all had pancakes for breakfast this morning. Amelia had two, with a little papaya.

Wow, she was really hungry on Thursday. ; )

Amelia is no longer a vegetarian. She had some chicken/apple/oat meatball that Laura made.

And….tada! The temperatures got into the mid80s and Amelia got a pool today!

Are there other countries in the world where you can buy a blow up elephant pool with a sun shade and spray tail, for a mere $9.99?
We are going to have a lot of fun with this over the summer or until it gets a hole.

The big news is that we think she’ll be crawling really soon. She turns from sitting to her hands and one knee to reach for things. She can’t quite figure out how to get that other leg turned. While I was out this morning, Ethan said she wiggled several feet forward on her stomach. Watch out, here she comes!
