Daddy’s toys

We cleaned up the basement during her first nap today and found one of Ethan’s old toys- a real wooden shape sorter. She especially likes the “clack” of closing the lid.

Bath time

She likes to drink water from the hand held shower.

Helping around the house

Amelia is such a big girl and helps with tasks like:

unloading the dishwasher,

taking the recycling out of the bin,

and putting the baby things on the shelf.

Don’t scare me like that!

Pretty Girl!

During Sunday’s gigglefest!

Guess who says Mama ALL the time now? This is the second time around after a month or so break on that sound. Sometimes I think it’s directed at me. Tonight she would crawl onto me and say it! Hooray AVJ!
Other skills: she can make a kiss noise and we got a couple waves out of her on Saturday.

Keep an eye on the Annex!

Another bookmark for Amelia fans. Allison gave me a phonecam for Father’s Day, and I upload the photos here. You may see pictures of the occasional odd thing, but tons will be of AVJ, I am sure.

Food update

Amelia refuses most mushy food now. We don’t know if it is from her teeth or she is ready to move on. This morning she had apple chunks, toast with cream cheese, and cheerios for breakfast. Lunch is chopped tortillini, peas, and more apple chunks.

The smile faded when we went for her blood test (iron & lead) this morning. She charmed most of the waiting room and crawled up into some nice man’s lap. But, then the phlebotomist couldn’t find her vein…then thought it was best to squeeze it out of her finger onto her glove, and wipe the glove over a tube. Another woman came in to help after Amelia screamed for 5 minutes and finished with expert technique in less than a minute. The poor girl has a bruise on her arm from holding it still and little broken capillaries from the rubberband they use to check for your vein. That was traumatic.

Once again, the Garfield bandaid was off Amelia’s finger when we got home. I couldn’t find it in the car so I figured maybe she ate it. (Ha! Finger food!) When I changed her diaper, I found it tucked into a corner of her cheek (mouth cheek, that is) and fished it out.

More teeth, no kidding.

You’d make this face, too, if bones were constantly erupting out of your gums.

It seems every time we go out of town, Amelia gets two more teeth- she has 6 now.
Along with the two most recent teeth came a new funny trick. She scrunches up her face (see the wrinkle between her eyes) and sort-of-snorts through her mouth.

What goes up…

We were hanging around the house today. I saw a bug that I wanted to catch and show Ethan in case it was a termite. I went to the kitchen to get a jar and a lid, got the bug, showed Ethan, and he went to Google termite. I said ‘Where’s Amelia?’

I looked around and this is what I found:

Yikes! She hasn’t shown any interest in the stairs before she decided to climb two steps.
We installed a baby gate during her next nap.
And it was an ant, not a termite (phew!).

Beach Week

We went to the Outer Banks this past week with the Franks. It was a wonderful week for everyone!

Here is the beach babe enjoying a baby sized dune.

We went in the pool twice a day, every day!

Amelia got her toes wet a couple of times in the ocean.

Bebe enjoyed a lot of time with her granddaughters. Here is Bebe with Amelia and cousin Katie, age almost-5.

There were three girls at the beach this year. Amelia is sitting with Lexi, age 16 months, and Katie. Lexi and Amelia traded toys and Katie fed Amelia some of her bottles.

Here we are!

Toolin’ around in her boat. AVJ has her floppy hat, her shades, a football. It’s all good.
