9 month checkup
Our still straight C daughter! She is:
21 lbs, 12 ounces
28 1/4 inches tall
and has a metric head of 45 centimeters,
(we were wondering why the head measurement is metric)
…all 75th percentile.
The only poke this dr. visit was a tuberculous test. The nurse put a bandaid over it so we would know where to check in a couple days. Amelia had it off and in her mouth by the time we got home.
Here’s a 9 month monkey picture!

Welcome Grizzy!

Amelia welcomed a new member to her pack …Grizwald Bear. He is from our (previous…sniff, sniff) neighbors across the street. They moved to Florida last week and we inherited Grizzy. He and Cadbury play A LOT, to the delight of often giggling Amelia.
[Ed. note: we are accepting no more wayward canines. There is no room at the inn.] -E

Happy 9 month birthday, Amelia!
Food news:

Amelia tried cottage cheese that our neighbors who moved left. At first the texture was weird for her, but she liked it and kept eating.
Here’s what happens shortly after crawling:

She wants to stand everywhere. The outside of her exersaucer, the outside of her jumper, at this play/sound station from the Marviches, leaning on the water bottles, at the couch her mom is sitting on…
Her crawl is sometimes using the knee on one leg and the foot on the other- like a half walk half crawl. Slooooow down girl.
Encore!
Amelia learned to clap today! She did it sort of by accident, I did it back to her, and she kept clapping. She crawls a few paces, sits, claps, crawls, sits, claps…
The other funny thing she does is crawl along saying “Uh” with each crawl movement. If you’re in another room, you hear “Uh” “Uh” “Uh” as she is chugging along. Sometimes it’s other sounds she is practicing like “da” “da” “da” or “heh” “heh” “heh”.
You’ll have to picture all of that for yourself because we’re having trouble uploading pictures this weekend. (Including my favorite pool picture from Newport, so we’ll get that up when we can.)
No commentsTrip to Newport, RI
Big news first: Amelia got her top two middle teeth this week. They’re white tips are just sticking out of her gums. We all survived that episode just fine!
We left last Sunday for a week in Newport for a conference Allison attended. Amelia slept for most of the plane ride up, and then enjoyed the view.

We took a hotel with a pool so Ethan and Amelia could have fun while Allison was conferencing. (Why is Allison in the pool? We have good afternoon breaks.) She got to enjoy the pool every day! Thanks to Grannie Annie & Grampy Ray for the floating swim suit. We never did let go of her, but we felt very secure.

Phew, we’re tired from all that swimming.

Another highlight of the hotel was the long hallways.

Amelia took quite a few crawling trips up and down the hallways with her newly learned coordination. She has rug burn on top of her big toes!

Amelia had a lot of fun with the friend she brought along. There were A LOT of mirrors in the hotel.

Amelia ate most of her meals at restaurants and behaved admirably.

We took a sailboat ride with the conference group. That was her only meltdown (I am betting that her teeth actually broke through the gums that afternoon!). A nap fixed that and here is a beautiful post nap Amelia enjoying the breeze.

Oops, another nap…on the Cliff Walk.

We all had a lovely time and Ethan was feeling especially lucky for enjoying so many days pal-ling around town with his beautiful daughter.

Amelia was very happy to be home. Can you believe this: she slept until 10:45 am this morning! She caught up on some missed sleep over the past week.
