Great Hair Day!
Amelia’s hair was pretty fun after her bath tonight (even after brushing it!).

Might’ve been because she figured out how to dance! Very calmly, just a little knee bouncing action. That jazzed up “Head, shoulders, knees & toes” on her music toy is pretty snappy.
The weekend
We went to see the Wares this weekend for a book swap. 6 month old Carter is growing fast. Amelia liked all of his toys.

Here is Amelia with Uncle Michael who was in town for the anti-Iraq war march. Aunt Mel was also here for Green Festival but we didn’t get any pictures.

Amelia is walking with her grand prix race car!

Molars!!
Amelia is getting a molar tooth on the lower left side. We saw it last night when she was laughing. I called the babysitter today to see what she thought and she said “Oh, I saw it yesterday, I forgot to tell you.” We are all so proud of our little girl! She’s going to have a very cute gap between a molar and the center ones.
It was causing her enough discomfort tonight to cause her to cry like we haven’t seen in a while. We had to pull out Krackle. He (?) is our best trick. She laughs and laughs and laughs and rolls away from him and then back towards him to be tickled again. It’s like catnip and we can’t really figure it out.

Visit to Swiftwater! Part 2.
A few bonus pictures:
Amelia enjoyed a swing that was used by her mama and aunt and uncles more than 30 years ago!

Here she is unstacking her Grampy’s music (he didn’t know, but we put everything back!).

Visit to Swiftwater! Part 1.
We celebrated Amelia’s one year birthday a little early. In the afternoon she opened her cards and presents on the porch. She liked reading her cards!

Of course the highlight of the first birthday is the cake mess! Everyone loves strawberries and cream.

Here is the almost-birthday girl with her grandparents and great grandmother.

Water, water, everywhere…
Amelia has been working up to pulling the rubber cover off the tub drain for about a week. In chronological order (you can print them out and make a little flip-motion book!):

Yep, she put the drain cover back. She didn’t even taste it until she pulled it up again. Am I unbiased in thinking that is amazing? Every day that girl does something brilliant. : )
We’re off to Swiftwater for Amelia’s first visit to Grampy Ray and Grannie Annie’s house, and her first 1st birthday party! See you on Sunday.
Comments are off for this postGames
I stack the blocks and Amelia, VERY CAREFULLY, removes the top one. It is really funny. She will start towards the block, pull her hand back to “reposition” herself, and go towards it again. Sometimes she does that three or four times before she removes just the top block.

Tonight she learned to point to, or into, her nose when I say “Where is your nose?”.

A scrape
Amelia is starting to get more scratches and a few bruises. She got one along her hairline yesterday evening…only she knows how. Wait till she’s running!

10:40, folks.
That is when Amelia got up this morning.
We slept until 9.
I went for a run.
Ethan went to the store.
I mowed the grass.
And then Amelia woke up.
That is some serious neuron connecting.
She was standing in her crib facing the door when Ethan went to get her.
We are so lucky. She is so happy!
Almost there
We can almost stop counting Amelia’s age in months! Here is her 11 month monkey picture.
