A Surprise Guest at Thanksgiving

Hello Kitty (or “kikky” as Amelia says)!

Thanksgiving Fun

Amelia loved seeing her Uncle Michael. It was funny when she sat next to him and pulled a bunch of books onto her lap.

Yum, smoked turkey leg is delicious! Cranberries and stuffing were other highlights.

Shoes & snow

Amelia likes to walk around in Ethan’s shoes (one of her favorite words too). She needs some nudges from the back but she thinks it is fun.

She got some shoes of her own this weeekend.

And boots! We got her foot measured and went for a size bigger so they’ll last the winter.

Snow wasn’t a big hit. She liked looking at it but one long walk with snow blowing in her face was too much for her.

The camera

Someone learned to take the lens cap off and put it back on.

We’re heading to PA on Wednesday for Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! See you next week.

The Yard

We had a beautiful fall weekend. Amelia spent some time exploring the backyard while I cleaned up the veggie patch and raked some leaves.

We got a fun play house from one of my coworkers. Here it is partially assembled. We’ll scrub it up in the spring and have some tea!

Our littlest PSU fan

Amelia donned her PSU outfit (from the Zapantas) yesterday to watch the Lions defeat the MSU Spartans in the Land Grand Bowl. Penn State is going to the Orange Bowl, hooray for JoePa. Here she is checking out the logo.

Hopefully when she is a teenager we will still be able to convince her to wear jeans under her miniskirts. “You’re not going out in that, young lady. Go put on some jeans.”

Food Update

My friend Shea told me her friend’s baby eats frozen vegetables like candy, especially when he is teething. We’re getting molar #3 so I thought we should try it. Amelia had corn, carrots, and peas (tends to gag on the green beans) all weekend!

Plus, her first potato chip. It’s all downhill from here.

Hair & Uh-Oh

I bought a pack of fuzzy hair elastic bands to keep Amelia’s long flowing hair out of her eyes. I wrapped her little sprig four times and I think it probably fell out pretty quickly at Rose’s. Amelia has her own hair brush now too!

Ethan wanted to close the refrigerator. To distract a very interested Amelia he picked her up and twirled her around, I took her, twirled her again, and carried her to get chicken broth from our pantry cabinet. She made her way back there again by herself a couple minutes later and found all sorts of interesting things.

Oops. There are four double doored cabinets that she will love exploring. We’re going to be cleaning that up every day now too…or latching it.

Long weekend

Amelia and I went to her great grandparents’ place for lunch on Veteran’s Day. She got a new Recorder! Sorry it’s blurry. She had a lot of fun with their organ and really surprised me by liking my tomato soup/chili…but not the beans.

Otherwise we’re scratching the barrel for pictures. We had a really good, do nothing weekend. So:

Mom’s socks are fun! (She can say “socks” and “shoes”)

A bowl can be a really fun toy.

Some things that make us laugh:

  • She used to point to her ear when we asked where her nose was. Now she points to her ear and says “eye”. A little Picasso painting.
  • She points and tells Grizzy to “Stop it” and “no” when he barks.
  • She is starting to say “poop”.
  • Sometimes she kisses us. Or really just approaches our faces with her open mouth.
  • She started the week with “Go Dogs Go” as her favorite book. I had to read it four times one night. And she has a phrase she says emphatically every time we get to the “stop dogs stop, the light is red” page. We ended with “Curious George ABCs” as the favorite.

Tights!

You gotta love baby tights. These are 12-24 months, and at least 6 inches too long for our 90th percentile baby. Not the smallest 13 month old out there. They looked great anyway. Could you imagine shoes that were a better match?
