Amelia’s move

We moved to Richmond last weekend. Amelia is adjusting, it must be hard on her brain to figure out. She is better every day.
She unpacked a few boxes onto the floor and I did get her to put some books on her shelf by herself.

She/we spent some time with Bebe and Grandpa at the lake this weekend.

And we got her playhouse and pool set up quickly for her to play. She wouldn’t sit down in the cold water. I guess mid 90s wasn’t hot enough weather for her?

She loves to play ‘night night’.

A funny thing she said: last night I asked her if she was done eating dinner and she said “Not quite.” Ethan and I looked at each other, I asked him “Did she say that?”, he said ‘Yes.”. Funny girl.

There are LOTS of kids on the street for her to play with, a huge park nearby, and I think this afternoon we’ll try out the pool that we joined for the summer.

Spring turning to summer

Amelia played outside in the yard for an hour when we got home today. Sorting rocks, cooking rocks, serving me rocks… She was mostly in her play house, but I took this picture on her way out. Every time I come back to the computer I look at this picture because the grass is so GREEN.

Then we went out to dinner together at the pizza place up the street. Yes, she put some pants on. She hasn’t really eaten for two days because (hooray!) she got her 4th K-9 (thanks Laura!) tooth last night. Boy did she eat tonight. Almost half a slice of pizza, and several curly fry coils (“circle!”). She drank her water from a plain cup- no lid- with a straw and didn’t spill any!

Pics

Grannie Annie & Grampy Ray visited this weekend. Here is Amelia sporting her new dinosaur towel that they brought for her.

We got a shot of Grannie visiting Amelia in her house. They enjoyed stone soup, fish and crab.

We didn’t get a picture of Grampy going down the slide next to Amelia at the park.

Amelia LOVES icecream. Here is one example. Every bite was like that- eyes shut- maybe against the cold?

At least she likes to work off the icecream with yoga.

This one amazed us!

You all know how she loves to talk on the phone. Here she is “cradling” the phone in her shoulder while she eats breakfast and and talks to her daddy.

She is starting to ask where things are. This morning we think she asked Ethan “where are you?” when they were talking on the phone. (He’s in Richmond and we move there the end of next week.) And tonight when I was putting her to bed and talking about him, she looked under her changing table for him, saying “where’s daddy?”
I sort of think she has no clue that we are moving and all the changes coming up in her life. But I bet she knows a lot more than I realize.

She’s a GIRL!

Amelia is quite fond of her bed buddies: lambie, baby, and blankie. Sometimes she is standing in her crib hugging all three tight when I go in to get her. One morning last week she insisted they join her for breakfast.

She saw me painting my toenails and held out her foot and asked “Do?”.

Well, why not? She was so good when I told her she couldn’t touch it until it was dry. Now she has nice white sandals to show off her toenails.

Yesterday at the park she pointed to some graffiti on the equipment and said “name”. We have since figured out that she knows “yaya”, “mama” and “daddy” are our names.

We played a funny game of hide-n-seek under a blanket this weekend. Ethan would hide and I’d say “uh oh, where’s daddy?” He’d say “Here I am” and uncover himself to her laughing and laughing. When we put the blanket over her, she said “uh oh, wheh yaya?” and “he-yam” from under the blanket.

Looking back…May 2, 2005

Ethan really wanted me to look at something on the computer…I really wanted to go to bed. But this was worth it! He said “It’s amazing what a difference a year makes.” And he is so right!

Cousins & toes

My cousin Ben & his wife Neha visited yesterday. It was great for Amelia to meet them and for us to see them.

Love those tippy toes. She likes to walk around on them and they are required to peek into our silverware and utensil drawers.
