Indian summer
We are all enjoying the last day of November and the second to last day of weather in the 70s.
Here you can see Daphne’s Jack Nicholson eyebrows.
There’s nothing like a swing on the porch and some rattle gumming after lunch.
Daphne bopped around the turtle-with-a-mirror-on-its-tummy today. Amelia loved that one, too.
Her eyes are changing color. They were solid dark gray/blue when she was born. That color is still the outer color, but the inside is getting lighter and with a little brown. Maybe she’ll have hazel eyes like her mama and Grannie.
I showed Amelia how to wash her face in the tub.
Amelia learned how to hold up just two fingers. She refers to herself as “me” now. As in “Who wants dinner?” “Me!”
And she learned how to go down the slide backwards this weekend…which was cute until she tried it on a really slippery one at the park yesterday. I had to ban that from her bag of tricks.
Happenings
We went to the lake to see Bebe and Grandpa, and Amelia and Daphne’s step-cousins Hannah and Zoe. They all send a big Hello! to Katie and Lexi. We missed you!
Amelia and I had some fun on the disc swing this morning.
Daphne was born in the year of the dog. Here she is in this cute towel after her bath tonight.
DPJ update
She is 11 pounds and 23 inches tall today.
She got three shots and didn’t like any of them. Because she’s a preemie, she’s getting a special RSV vaccine. It is actually antibodies injected into her- very neat and very expensive. Good to have insurance. It costs $2000 for the season (one shot per month).

I got a big gummy grin from Daphne while we ate breakfast this morning! Her smiles have been much more subtle until today.

Some fun with leaves
Amelia met some Cheetos at lunch today. We all love Cheetos but she didn’t get seconds because “They’ll stunt your growth.”.
Don’t worry, she balanced that with some raw carrot circles and triangles for a morning snack.
I attach the little Eeyore rattle to Daphne’s wrist so she can lift weights and make it rattle.
She loves bouncy chair.
She slept through the night for three nights in a row (10-11 hours!), and now we’re back to getting up around 4. Hopefully not for long.
A story
Ethan was chatting with the grocery bagger at the store about a paper and speech he had due. He told Amelia the boy is in highschool.
Amelia said “I wanna go to highschool.”
Daddy said “First you go to Tuckaway, then you go to elementary school, then you go to middle school, then you go to highschool, then you go to college, then you go to medical school, then you go to Sweden.”
Amelia said “I’m going to be two!”
Keeping us grounded…
Hooray for sleep!
Daphne slept through the night last night, 9pm-7am! Not bad.
She beat Amelia by a week if we count from Daphne’s due date. She stirred at her ~4am wakening time, but didn’t wake up.
Funny girl
Yes, that is (fake) swiss cheese hanging from the utensil hook.
A sampling of AVJ wake up narration (going on 25 minutes now!):
“Hey what are you doing? Take your hands off please. Take your hands
off. Don’t take your hands off. Almost.
Where it goes? It goes in there, it goes right there. Nope. Take it
over there. Take this over there. What say? Take your hands off.
Alllllll done. Don’t take the sticker off.”
(She’s talking about the stickers on her library books).

Someone’s growing fast!
Yes, those shoulders are for holding her cheeks up. She’s wiggly and hungry and sweet. She smiled twice in the past week when I turned on her mobile.
