Amelia’s been choosing her words carefully lately. Trying to get the right meaning. It’s really fascinating to watch.

Also, she’s been picking up colloquialisms, which can be funny. Like:

Amelia: Where we going?
Ethan: To the video store.
Amelia: What we… what we get?
Ethan: I’m not sure.
Amelia: Maybe we check it out!

It’s emboldened me to use more slang with her, because it’s so fun. So yesterday she was choosing her words and taking longer-than-normal to get there:

Amelia: … uh … uh….
Ethan (smiling): Spit it out.

Amelia just stared at me with a serious expression for a few seconds, then leaned forward and spit into the toy box that was between us.
