She’s starting to move
She’s definitely not crawling, but Daphne squirmed over her boppy a couple times this weekend.
She’s rolling on her side to sleep now, too.
Sisters, cheek to cheek.
Daphne likes the noodle…so much that she reached for it, tipped her chair, and went under!
Her teacher said today that Daphne really likes a red pot at their classroom. And she loves a red cup in the bath. Maybe red is her favorite color?
Bath time!
A great conversation
This cracked me up so much I immediately called home and left it on our answering machine to pass on accurately…
On the way home after work & daycare today, sitting at a traffic light:
Amelia: Mama, what’s that brown ting?
Mama: It’s a huge pile of dirt. (construction site bulldozer pile)
Amelia: I mean that brown ting. That brown ting over there. Next to the white ting. Does someting go inside?
Mama: (spying the brown port-o-potty) Actually, that’s an outdoor toilet, Amelia.
Amelia: Who goes in the bathroom? Do animals go in there? They go in the tractor. Pause. And they’re just taking a ride. And they’re wearing sunglasses.

I love them so much. It’s great to be a mama.
Amelia learned how to do somersaults over the arm of the couch tonight. She’s sort of played around with that once in a while over the past several months. Tonight I saw her feet propped on the arm, head on the cushion, and said “Push with your feet!”, they went over her head, and she was sooooo excited. She did it probably (no exaggeration) 30 times. “Watch me mama!” A few times, I was really glad squishy bunny chair was on the floor next to the couch.
Amelia is all about new physical tricks. She often says “Watch me mama!” as she does some little thing she figured out. We went to the park today to jump in the moon bounce and listen to some music. She jumped and jumped and danced and danced (so pretty), ate two and a half hotdogs and a big bowl of honeydew, then did her somersaults, and conked out tonight.
Daphne had her 9 month checkup Friday. 20.5 pounds!! She made it through vaccine hangover without too much discomfort. She felt a little rough yesterday and woke up twice last night, but she just wanted a little help to go back to sleep. She’s also working on her first two teeth. They’re *right* there, just waiting to burst through. I can feel a corner of one, so far. She doesn’t liked pureed mac & cheese. Like her sister, who still doesn’t eat much mac & cheese. We’re wondering if they’re ours?
Ethan’s in Pewaukee Wisconsin this week. : ( We’ll miss him. He just called to say goodnight to Amelia and she asked “Are you gonna kiss me?” (Little tear in my eye.)
1 commentAmelia quotation of the moment

“I go get someting [sic] for myself” as she opens the pantry.
“I want dis, I want popcorn.”
“No.”
“But I want popcorn because I’m really hungry because I’m all done with my pizza.”

Amelia got a fever yesterday so we are home today. I already had a half day because Daphne has her 9 month checkup this afternoon. Here was our first game of Hi Ho Cherry-o! today. She won.
It is so cool that she can play games now. She likes to say that the spinner landed on a line (when it didn’t) and spin again.
We figured out that Daphne laughs and laughs when we (more so for Amelia) jump up and down in front of her.
We found this fellow in the yard. Watched him for a while (frogs poop!) and herded him under the deck so the dogs would leave him alone.
Happy Buth-day Daddy!
There’s not much better than your 2 1/2 year old wishing you Happy Buthday half-a-dozen times during breakfast.
Road trip
We made our first trip (as a family of four) up 95 this weekend. We went to visit Gigi & Giffer. Daphne slept the whole way, both ways. Amelia slept the last 15 minutes of only the way home (at 9:45pm!). She is amazing at keeping herself awake, but was happy so that was fine.
You get a picture of Daphne with each, because the only picture I took of Amelia was her licking cinnamon bun off her elbow.
My arms and back are usually tired on Mondays after a weekend of holding Daphne. We had a lot of help this weekend from her great grandparents.
Amelia entertained all of us with many sessions on Gigi’s organ. We saw four tiny goslings that Gigi & Giffer weren’t too happy about (mostly about them getting bigger and sticking around), and many many birds. Daphne got to go to Ikea and learn about her Swedish heritage from Giffer’s side of the family. We got some luskers and some tollents and a couple padillups.
Another highlight was watching the Kentucky Derby. We all picked horses and started hollering and cheering as soon as the gate opened. Amelia was sort of surprised at all of the adults making so much noise. Ethan picked the 2nd place horse and Giffer picked the 3rd place horse.
Next up, Daddy’s birthday. Amelia is really excited about the cake.
