Ladybug and Cinderella
We trick-or-treated on Bebe and Grandpa’s street. Those people are serious about Halloween, I can’t even do it justice. So here are the girls.
Amelia has a rash
The blue swirlies. It might be serious enough that she has to miss Halloween.
This CRACKED me up when I pulled up her shirt before her bath. This is a stamp-marker from her Aunt Melissa. Amelia took her crayons & markers to daycare today. She had to stay with the nurse because she had a fever yesterday, so she took some of her favorite things to keep herself busy. I guess she was unsupervised for a while?! I still can’t stop laughing.
1 commentDaph’s practicing for Halloween
This is her funny icecream face.
It makes us laugh every time. She “ehhhh”s for more, very loudly, and then makes this face as soon as it is in her mouth.
A pretty picture of Amelia watching a kids song-video (Catch the Moon) before bed. Her Daddy loves her very much.
Amelia mentioned (for the third time, maybe it’ll stick!) tonight that she wants to be a “Candy Treater” for her job when she grows up. That means she will give out candy. And get paid for it, and she said she could still live near her Mama and Daddy if she did that. : ) ['Cuz she knows she has to live in Florida or Texas if she is an astronaut, or Washington DC if she is president.]
Pumpkinpalooza
Last weekend we went to Pumpkinpalooza
Ethan volunteered on the Velcro Wall. He was soooo tired when he got home (throwing kids on the wall for 4 hours), he didn’t even remember Amelia trying it out. When I showed him the picture, he couldn’t believe it.
There were 50 pumpkins and Bebe carved this scary one!
Daphne started pointing with her finger tonight- at ducks her their bathtub book. She has been finishing her bath before Amelia, and spending Amelia’s bath standing up-sitting down over and over and over again on the outside of the tub.
Next up Halloween!
No commentsThe beach with Fafa!
We journeyed down to the Outer Banks for three days (too fast). We caravanned with Fafa. Reminder to self: bring the little potty seat. Fafa was very patient, I am sure more so than us!!
Sunrise with Amelia! And Hello Kitty. Surnise in October is do-able- about 7:10am.
Sunrise with Daphne! (Who went back to bed 20 minutes later)
Fafa’s new dog (and New Friend of Tawbubby), Ginger went to the beach with us. Amelia and I took this during “Sunrise with Amelia”.
We decided Ginger hasn’t seen a baby before- especially because she doesn’t know to hang around the high chair for tidbits that drop. The second day she did come by for some bacon pieces. But I cleaned up a lot of cheerios and banana pieces that I never have to clean up at home! This might have also been Ginger’s first time at the beach. She warmed up to getting in the ocean very quickly.
Daphne enjoyed the beach very much.
And it made her very tired! We all wanted to do this.
Amelia enjoyed her third birthday party with Gigi, Gifer and Grand Aunt Cheri. She got some new clay (seen here, playing with a snake Gifer made) and an activity book that includes markers, watercolors and glitter paint. She stopped opening presents to go paint, and then moved straight on to the clay. She loves making art and comes from quite a family history of creative people.
Remember my comment about we’re all healthy tonight, we weren’t last night and we probably won’t be tomorrow night? Been through bronchitis (D), and something like bronchitis (A) since we last posted. We’re all good again. When does this end? If your kid has a recurring fever at the beach, the doctor at Urgent Care gives out bubbles instead of lollipops. Very clever.
October is a wonderful time for the beach! The weather was gorgeous and we didn’t want to come home.
2 commentsMore birthday pictures plus Bubbles and Pool!
Amelia didn’t take ONE bite of her birthday cupcakes, though she did love the purple. She also hasn’t eaten any of Grandma’s cookies this week- we can’t figure this one out.
Daphne, on the other hand, enjoyed enough cupcake for both of them.
Thank you all for the birthday fun! Amelia has spent a chunk of time writing her thank you notes, coming soon to your mailboxes. She got a butterfly pillow that has a pocket with a pad of paper and a pen, and she has probably written half a pad’s worth of notes so far.
She is doing great with her twin bed. I peek before I go to bed and she’s never about to fall out.
She told me today that her favorite letter is “A” and her favorite number is “3″.
We had some fun blowing bubbles on Sunday evening.
Amelia learned how to catch a bubble on the wand!
October 10th. It was 94 degrees today (they just said it was record heat on the news preview on tv) so we filled up the pool for one last time. Amelia was too cold so Grandma kept her warm. Daphne enjoyed it but didn’t really want her hair washed with cold water.
Amelia had her 3 year check up today. She didn’t even blink when she got her flu shot and the two nurses were exclaiming about how she should be the poster child for getting shots. She did some jumping jacks for the doctor, too. 39 1/2 inches tall and 36 pounds of beautiful, smart, funny, brave girl.
Grandma is going home tomorrow and we will miss her. Ethan’s away this week for work, back Friday, and we miss him. Lots of missing going on here. We will survive.
No commentsShe’s 3.
She got many presents including a big girl bed with purple sheets and purple pajamas.
More later.
4 commentsWhen you see her again, she will be 3.
Today, Grandma, Daphne, Amelia and I went to school for a special birthday snack (fruit tray) for Amelia, gym bus, and to read a book (The Important Book) to the class for her birthday.
The humor of an almost three year old: On the way, Amelia asked where Daddy was, and we told her that he was at work. Grandma said “I am retired!” And Amelia said, “Than you don’t have to work and you can take a nap”.
A note from Daphne
She had some things to say:

Old and cherished friends of tawbubbies
We went to Rockville this past weekend to visit old friends. We stayed with “Auntie Lynn” and “Uncle Ryan”, who were very generous and accommodating. The girls slept sooooo late on Sunday morning in the very dark and quiet basement. What a novelty to have a cup of coffee and a glance at the newspaper before they were up. Daphne woke up at 9:15 when I went to take a shower, and then I woke Amelia up around 9:30.
We took a short trek through the woods behind their house. They helped us get the girls to our destination sans stroller. Here is Amelia getting a helping hand…
And Daphne getting two!
Our destination was a horse farm associated with the county parks. Uncle Ryan and Daphne disappeared, and I found them watching some riders during their lessons.
Nice conversation about something, I am sure.
It was great to see our neighbor Jonathan who moved to the other side of Rockville.
He introduced us to a new, and awesome, cheese: Humboldt Fog. If you like cheese, you should get some of this to try. Man, that was a treat. I almost can’t stop thinking about it.
Amelia and Daphne got to spend some time with Amelia’s babysitter Rose.
We all miss Rose & Isa and all of the love that is in their house.
Mark tonight down. All of the Johnsons are healthy tonight. Wasn’t true last night, probably won’t be true tomorrow night.
Grandma’s coming!!
