Drawing, O’s and Cousins
Amelia is starting to draw people! Classic, and so cute.
Daphne loves the letter O in their leapfrog refrigerator letters set. This is the first letter she grabs, and often she takes it with her to leave it somewhere around the house. “Q” is second place.
We had early Christmas this weekend with the Hendrick side of the family. Here are the kids of the cousins. Bailey is 10, Jackson is 1, and you know the other two.
Jackson thought Daphne’s food was better than his.
Amelia is pretty excited about Santa.
Evidence:
1. We went to a Christmas party on Tuesday night. As we were signing in, Santa came out of a door RIGHT THERE, on his way to the party room. I had my hand on Amelia chest, and I felt her heart beat faster, it start pounding! It was very cool.
2. We were playing dollhouse yesterday with her Russian stacking doll and a house made from blocks. I put a cylinder block on the roof and said “this is so Santa can visit”. Stopped her cold for a good 20 seconds while she thought about it. She said “But this is the bedroom, it needs to be by the living room.” Another quiet & still 20 seconds, and she pointed to our fireplace and said “Is he going to come down there?”
3. She woke up crying this morning. I went in and asked her what was wrong. She sobbed “But, I don’t know if the Grinch is going to come. I don’t want the Grinch to come.”
3 commentsAmelia’s letter to Santa
Amelia wrote a letter to Santa on Saturday.
Well, dictated it to her daddy. It is about how good she was this year.
“Dear Santa,
I have been very good this year. I brought Daphne musical instruments to play with and also train tracks. I made food for my friend Catriona. And I shared my Gummy vitamins with Mia.
Love, Amelia”
She decorated it by coloring marker all over her hands and making different prints and smears.
All Daphne Edition
Daphne loves doors and drawers. She loves to crawl over to them, and open and shut them.
The funny part is when she closes a room door, and of course, can’t open it yet. You hear an “Ahhhh” come-help-me from inside. We open, she shuts after a smiling peek like this one, we open, she peeks and shuts, we open, she peeks and shuts.
Here she is by the pantry, wedging her little finger in there to get the door open.
Ethan put a cabinet lock on that tonight so she can’t get into all the spices, etc.
Might be good for her sister too, who opened some sprinkles today and ate some. She came to me and said “Mama, see how much there is?” as she held up the jar to me. I said “Oh, did you eat some?” She said “Yes, see?”, opening her mouth for me to see her teeth full of rainbow colors.
Daphne enjoyed playing in a pile of leaves on the deck. Here is was in the middle of a leaf monologue. She also enjoys tasting them.
Time to put a gate at the top of the stairs so that we don’t have to run as we hear her approach them. She surprised us tonight by walking pretty well with a little push cart. Tonight she just pushed it by herself across the playroom. She’s moving between pieces of furniture, and will let go for maybe a half a second while she reaches for her target. Guess we’ll have to move the furniture apart a little more.
