Pancake Party
It’s been a while. If you can imagine, we forgot our camera when we went to the lake last weekend for Easter.
Amelia went cold turkey into underwear over night last night. She was dry in the morning so we had a chocolate chip pancake with rainbow sprinkles party!
She has a new Monkey nightlight, new Days of the Week-Disney princess underwear, and we set her alarm for 4am for a trip to the restroom. She slept through it, but we didn’t. That girl sleeps solidly. We can’t even wake her when we go to bed, she doesn’t stir. Maybe it will be the only dry night for a long time, but let’s keep our fingers crossed. She was soooooo proud this morning. Hooray for Amelia!
Daphne also enjoyed the rainbow sprinkles.
There were many “please”es with her holding out her empty plate for more. There were even sprinkles in her diaper when I changed it later!
Daphne liked this hat today. She played peek-a-boo with it in front of her face.
Daphne finally learned “Mama”. Maybe a week ago it came out in full force. Usually when she wants me and can’t get to me. It is so much better than the fuss sound that used to be my name. She also loves the word “bubble” and sings the “e-i-e-i-o” during Old McDonald. She loves singing and music, maybe more than Amelia did at the same age. She especially loves when Amelia sings to her. Her face just glows at Amelia, who she increasingly calls “A-ya-ya”, rather than straight “ya-ya”.
She likes to put a bag or purse over her arm and wave and say “Bye-Bye”. She’s starting to climb the steps standing up. She has a couple phrases of two words together. Her favorite is “Bye bye da-da”. She likes to answer the phone, and to throw things into the trash. I found our phone in the trash, by pushing the pager button and following the ‘beep’, when it went missing last week.
We think she’s allergic to cinnamon, and that is a problem in a family of cinnamon lovers. Wheat, we are dealing with that. Milk, alright there is plenty of soy out there. But cinnamon??? Seriously, she is sooo much better without wheat and milk. Her congestion is gone. I was very happy to see her favorite gluten-free cookie don’t have cinnamon, when my taste buds thought it would be on the ingredient list.
We have a little spring fever. Amelia helped me plant two blueberry bushes tonight. She liked rocking back and forth on the pitchfork.
She also did a some shoveling, and then said “Mama, I’m so tired I might need to lay down right here!” She watered them at the end, too.
She was a great help. Maybe she needs some gardening shoes.
She’s a kid who likes to know the rules. And one who likes candy. She is much easier to deal with since we initiated our new “Treats only on Saturdays” rule. She doesn’t even ask now, like she did every other night since Valentine’s Day. She likes knowing she will get a treat on Saturdays. And she’s o.k., as long as she knows the rule. Today she got (o.k., chocolate chip pancakes and) a treat from her Easter basket. She asked me if she could eat a particular Easter basket treat “next Saturday”.
