Rollerskating!
Amelia’s very brave teachers took the class to the roller rink for a field trip this morning. We had a great time!
The kids had skates that go over their shoes. They all did a super job getting around the rink, mostly in a shuffle with a tiny bit of rolling. She demonstrated skating during dinner tonight, and told us about the “smooth smooth flat floor”. It was something new and different for all of them, and a great experience. Amelia really liked the different disney scenes painted above the tables around the rink. I’m thinking some cheap skates are a great Spring surprise for a girl who lives on a cul-de-sac.
(We try to not publish the name of their school, which is why the tshirt looks funny. I used the picasa “touch up” tool.)

Daphne’s favorite Christmas thing, by far, is her cupcake pajamas.
She just loves them. They have a wide neck and sometimes we find her asleep in her crib with the shirt around her waist. I found this after I heard some early evening fuss, so I figured I would take a picture to share.
We have (two times daily) several sentence conversations about how her cupcake pajamas are dirty, they are in the hamper and we haven’t put them in the wash yet…until she gets them back again. I am not sure she has ever loved something so much. Really.
Yes we are slowly working on your thank you notes. I am enjoying watching them explore their new stuff.

The Setup.

The Anticipation.
The Defeat.
Amelia got this top for Christmas. It can spin on the stick or the ball, and if you do it right it will flip from ball to stick during the spin. We had such fun watching her do this over and over last Saturday night. I didn’t get “The Flip!” in this series, but she did get the top to flip three or four times. You can imagine us cheering, and her jumping and squealing!
Great outfits collection: no. 183
Amelia never had much fuss about what to wear- we would just hand her something. Now she makes the choices, and they are almost always amusing.
Today’s outfit included her winter dress, green leggings over white tights, a fancy gold belt, and pink boots. We went outside for a walk, and she added her new coat made by Aunt Penny & Uncle Dave, and moved the belt to the outside.
It took a long time to get the girls out of the house, but good looks take some effort. You can see a fairy house she built to her left.
I am waiting to see how long her new imaginary friend Prince Eric (from Little Mermaid) sticks around. He is here for his third day and apparently, he never leaves (like sometimes I have to leave to go to work or go see a friend- he doesn’t do that). Yesterday they got married. This afternoon, she’s been talking to him since she got up from not napping. I think they’re camping. Her imagination is pretty fantastic lately. She just corrected me that they are going to a movie called ‘”Movie Camp”, Someone watches a movie and watches a movie and someone is camping’. They’re getting stuff ready for the movie.

Daphne got a little toy piano for Christmas. It has keys with numbers, so kids can play by pushing the right numbers. Amelia tried it, and figured it out. She then remembered this xylophone she got for Christmas last year. Now every day, she asks if she can go practice!
It is really cool to see her teach herself. Part of it might be that I told her to sit on a stool at the bar, which kids aren’t allowed to do because a friend fell off a stool last year. So, sitting there is a special treat. But it also keeps her out of Daphne’s reach, so she can play in peace. She says “I’m being careful” every time she gets up and down, hope she keeps doing that.

Gigi and Gifer’s tree:
Amelia spent a lot of time dancing in her new ballet dress. A hidden music box plays Swan Lake when she taps it. She loves that dress.
Snuggle bear
is Ethan’s nickname for Daphne. Here is “Snuggle Bear” hugging her Grannie Annie on Christmas morning.
