Lullabyes

Bedtime conversation I listened to tonight-

Daphne: Amelia, will you sing to me?

Amelia: I won’t sing “Go to sleep” to you, I’m going to bed.

pause

Amelia: How many times do you want me to sing- once?

Daphne: Yea

Amelia: “Go to sleep…Go to sleep…Go to sleep my little Daphne…When you wake, you will find your mommy and daddy with lots of kisses”

Daphne: Will you sing ‘Baby bumble bee to me’?

(And then Daphne belted it out herself)

Bike!

Amelia got a new-for-her bike from my friend.

It is purple and has a princess horn.  What else could a girl want?  A flower of course.  When she can ride it by herself to two houses up the hill from ours, Ethan will get her a clip on flower for her handle bars.

Tonight we rode it up the hill (with several boosts), but really it seemed like that clip on flower is not far away.  She is the complete opposite of our two boy neighbors.  She is very much not self-destructive and doesn’t want to go fast down the hills.  And is happy to wear her helmet.

Beach!

Who doesn’t love the beach? We had a beach weekend with Bebe and Grandpa for Ethan’s birthday and Mother’s Day.  Lots of celebrating and lots of sand.  The hole in the sand = swimming pool was again the favorite.

This one (below) might be my favorite picture.  I dropped Daphne’s sunglasses into the ocean, which necessiated a trip to the tourist stores for a new pair.  Amelia picked out this pair for herself.  She looks like a movie star!   This girl has some good fashion sense (she didn’t get it from me).

I also like this one (she wrote ‘Amelia’ in the sand).

And this one. Daphne’s such a cool kid.

The water was muscle-cramping frigid but we all went in!  Once, Daphne even got went over the top of her head.

Horseshoes

We watched two men playing horseshoes on the beach, and then Amelia thought up how to make her own game.  Two sand shovels served as the metal posts.

Carefully checking out the set-up of the adults’ game.

The game…throwing two sand scoopers back and forth to the shovels.

Amelia wanted to know why she couldn’t take off her shirt like the man on the right.

Me: ‘Because you don’t have sunscreen on under your shirt’

Amelia: ‘But how do you know he has sunscreen on?’

on and on “Amelia the Riddler” had a whole set of questions related to the man without the shirt and sunscreen…

After they played, they let her try out their horseshoes, lucky girl!

Ethan’s birthday

OK, this post doesn’t involve Tawbubbies, but this picture must be shared.

Aquarium

We took the girls to the North Carolina Aquarium on the rainy day of the beach weekend.  They got to talk to and high-five a diver in the shark tank, and touch small fish in another tank with rays.  The small fish were a nice addition that the girls didn’t mind reaching into the water to touch.

After the “Creepy Crawlers” show, they also touched a King Snake.

Amelia said the snake was “Rumbly and smooth”.  When the aquarium employee asked why it was called a king snake, Amelia answered “Because it is the biggest”, which wasn’t the answer.  It is because the king snake eats all the other snakes.
