Ahhh summer!
Nothing says summer like Watermelon! Gotta eat it outside, too.

After dinner tonight, the bike brigade hit the cul de sac. Daphne is much more game than Amelia was at age 2, to scoot around in a bike using her feet. She’s a bit more “boy” and brave, too. Tonight all the kids took turns flying down the hill on the big wheel, to go over the ramp. Cutest kid award goes to Daphne.

See, she really got up some speed!

Amelia totally posed for this one. Bottom of the hill, next to the ramps.

We live next door to two boys, ages 3 and just-about 5, and they are much more self-destructive than A & D. They’ve both been hurling themselves down the hill to the ramps or just ramming the curb for a year. Amelia got up the guts today to give it a try (we figured for the attention the boys get for doing it…). Daphne is walking up and down the stairs like a big girl now! One day recently she had something in her hand that she just had to take back upstairs to put in her dresser drawer, and up she went. Here she is coming back down with her dolly.

Her two favorite ways to go down stairs are 1) “Daddy, I want your press”, which is how she asks for “Daddy express”, or a piggy-back ride, and 2) sliding down on her tummy. Up was either holding onto both of our hands, or crawling up. We have had a few times where we are all sitting at the top of the stairs clapping to encourage her and she is a pretty reliable stair walker now.

Ethan rode in the MS150 this weekend.

The girls were an excellent pit crew. We drove all over central-eastern VA this weekend and I think they had a fun time. This shot is at the Saturday lunch stop.

Waiting for bikes to roll by at the 5th water stop on Sunday…they kept busy coloring, slurping on Slurpees (they actually didn’t like them), eyeing the biker snacks and walking around.

The support crew made a “Great Ride” sign.
