Painting

I love to see what Amelia comes up with.  This was draft 2, after Daphne walked by with a brush full of something Amelia didn’t want on there!

Daphne filled up two pieces of paper, but had a lot more fun doing this at the end!

I asked them to keep the paint from the neck down.  After she painted her hair twice, she was done, and got a bath in the hose.

Thirsty girl

It was hot outside today, someone was thirsty!

Amelia’s nightcap

You don’t really need a narrative here, except that she came up with this on her own, without telling us, and we’re going on a week.  This kid cracks me up.

Block party!

Our street had a 2nd annual block party last weekend.

A sneaky shot…Amelia didn’t think I was watching.  Here, she is examining the gum in a candy bowl.

At some point we told her she couldn’t have gum until she was 5, because that is what our friends told their daughter.  She was soooo scared on Saturday that Ethan would take her *treasured* gum away that our neighbor gave her.  A few minutes later, she found a whole bowl of gum on a table.  She had quite a bit of gum on Saturday.

Cousins enjoying icepops on the moon bounce steps!  Daisy wasn’t that happy at that moment, but Daphne (and I) couldn’t get enough of her.

Hug a Lion!

This picture is a few weeks old, from Daphne’s classmate’s birthday party. But I just love the photo.

Visit to Grannie and Grampy’s house

We went to the Poconos to visit Grannie and Grampy.  It was fun to be a tourist in my hometown.  Here is Daphne trying out the binoculars at Big Pocono State Park, atop Camelback Mountain.  Amelia is trying to look back at her through the lenses.

We went to the Crayola Factory in Easton PA.

IMG_5430

(Sorry for the smear on the camera lens)  It’s not a real factory but we  had a lot of fun doing all sorts of art with Crayola crayons, markers, paint, chalk, and other things.  Daphne’s highlights were probably finger-painting and painting a plaster fish with watercolors.  Amelia’s highlight was making a stop-motion animation movie with a collection of plastic animals.

We had lots of fun at Grannie and Grampy’s house, of course, too.  The girls swung a couple times a day on this swing set my grandfather/plumber made years ago.  Here is Amelia on a new-ish swing made by Grampy.

Aunt Melissa brought a great frisbee (we had to try hard to throw it wrong) and we played with that every day too.  Daphne had a great motion swinging her whole upper body back and forth before she let go of the frisbee.

I woke up one morning at 6:15am, excited to realize that we could teach Amelia to play the game SORRY!

IMG_5391

She played several, and won one time.  Here she is knocking Grannie’s pawn off in a “SORRY!” moment.  She learned many good defensive and offensive maneuvers from the experienced SORRY! players.

We all went out to a PA diner and for icecream on our last night.  A definite treat to end a great visit!

The garden

Grannie and Grampy have a beautiful, bountiful garden.  We picked flowers, strawberries, raspberries and peas.

IMG_5400

The girls loved shelling and eating fresh peas.

Daphne can handle the biggest basket Grannie had!

These girls are full of peas, walking down to the chickens to feed them the empty pods.

Pony ride

The girls went on pony rides at a stable in the Poconos.  Here is Daphne on “Ariel”.
