There is a reason I peek at the girls every night before bed…
well, mostly because I love them to pieces. But tonight I found Daphne out of her bed and asleep on the floor! I’m a bit surprised she didn’t get up into Amelia’s bed.
Soccer!
Amelia is a Bobcat. She’s the only girl on her team, the only pink ball. She’s easy to point out when we meet other parents! She had a great time, actually ran around, kicked the ball a bunch of times, did her drills, and played a few minutes. Newsflash, we think she’s competitive! Time to teach that girl to go for the ball. She’s going to enjoy soccer.
Daphne’s coach is Brillant so far! He brought a cardboard field and six Sesame Street figurines to demonstrate the game to a bunch of new-bie three year olds. It was so cute. He also brought a print-out of a picture of a Gazelle, to show all the kids their mascot. There were no 3-year olds crying on the side of the field the whole time during this practice!
Daphne was done, about half way through. She spent an hour before her practice playing on the side of Amelia’s game, and on the playground. We’ll have to figure out if it helps to conserve her energy for her own practice, an hour after Amelia’s.
Comments are off for this postFlashlight Festival
to end our five day weekend. Amelia the street artist was coloring in her name, by flashlight.
Belle Isle
We went to Belle Isle two mornings in a row! The girls loved climbing over the rocks. This kid has a blast wherever she goes. Even when she falls!
Amelia and a neat river side rock piles.
Fafa and Ginger joined us for a walk around an island.
Big kid Amelia got to climb a ladder at an old power plant. What you can’t see is the fairly dangerous route to get there (very old and open railings) and the high drop off all around.
“Mama, I see D!” on the footbridge. Might be my favorite moment of this long weekend.
I love the graphics of this sign.
Some pictures
Amelia started reading to herself last week. She loves the humor of this page in A Fly Went By because everyone is scared of a goat with a can on his leg.
She read 2/3 of this book and half of Ballet Kitty. Hope we finish one this weekend.
She also wrote the third item on the shopping list below.
Daphne loves water. She likes to lay down flat in the tub before it gets too full. It’s neat to see Daphne do things Amelia was never brave enough to do herself.
Dancers
Daphne got this make-your-own tutu for her birthday, from the NC Franks. It was pretty easy to make! She loves to spin and spin.
Amelia danced to Nutcracker music a bunch this weekend. She is so grace and she didn’t get that from me or Ethan. She can’t wait for dance class to start again soon!
Bike rider
We went to a trail around a pond near our house to get in some good, flat, kid bike riding. Amelia gained some confidence finding her balance with her training wheels.
Daphne and I watched as Amelia did her second lap around the pond with Ethan. 2 laps, 0.6 miles each, not bad for a 4 year old. At the end she said her legs were tired.
Daphne and I hung out on a bench to watch tap two.
