Best big sister
On Friday, Daphne’s teacher told me how much Amelia loves, protects, and helps Daphne. Saturday we were playing a pen and paper game with the letters in Daphne’s name. Amelia ran to get her magnet letters to make it into a matching game. And then taught Daphne several other variations that she made up.
Last night, dinner was ready and we listened to the girls upstairs as Daphne asked Amelia to help her go potty, get her clothes back on, wash her hands. It took maybe 10 minutes but was so great to listen to the two of them working together to get all that done.
Tonight Daphne tipped her chair back, and fell. She was crying. Amelia ran upstairs and returned with Daphne’s Elmo so Daphne would feel better.
Daphne is a pretty lucky little sister.
1 commentBanana pudding
This weekend we made banana pudding (vanilla pudding, banana slices and vanilla wafers).
The girls measured and mixed everything (I cooked the pudding), cracked the eggs (I separated the yolks), and Amelia put the banana and cookie layers in the glasses. It might be a new family favorite. They were yummy!
Comments are off for this postA few more Amelia birthday pictures

Soccer stars
Lots of serious playing is going on every Saturday morning…
One of our soccer stars really enjoyed her break time today
The other enjoyed running and holding her friend’s hand.
Daphne’s big kick:
(she is the kid with the ball, #20).
Amelia actually had a half-minute or so of fast footwork today, until the other team stole the ball away. That was pretty exciting. She said she doesn’t know what to do after she kicks the ball, because someone else will take it away from her. She found a little bit of dribbling skill today.

Cabin, part 2
Amelia got a fishing pole, and an introduction to the sport, for her birthday from Mr. Chris.
And enjoyed playing on the rocks on the river. Here she is brushing her new horse’s mane (thanks Lyons’!). Eventually she made a rock bed for horse and rider, complete with rock pillows and blankets.
Daphne is on the screen porch, reading her book to the class and showing them the pictures!
Cabin
We went to the cabin this weekend. (On the Bullpasture River in Highland Co, VA) We’re too tired to tell stories, but here are two pictures.
Amelia’s packing list for things she didn’t want to forget on Friday morning, complete with checkmark next to each once they were packed:
(Slippers, Pink, Giraffe, Toto, toothbrush, books flashlight, bedfriends)
And the girls before dinner last night. Gigi and Gifer brought some princess dressups that Amelia loved. Yes the weather was in the 50s. Daphne is holding her disposable camera to take pictures this weekend. She took a picture and then turned the camera around to the subject to show each person what the result, like when we use our digital camera.
